Top 3 Thursday: Favorite Things About Being a Parent

This week Confessions of a Working Mom and The (Un)Experienced Mom want to know "What are your Top 3 Favorite Things about being a Mom?"

There are so many ups and downs to being a Mom. Sometimes the downs are way down, but the ups more than make up for them. Here are my Top 3:

#3 Being the one they run to when they need a boo boo kissed: Miss H is a rough and tumble kind of kid, but she usually just jumps up and brushes is it off. On the occasion that she really does hurt herself, I love that I am the one that she runs to for comfort. A kiss and a hug usually do the trick, although and ice pack or a band-aid may be involved, too!

#2 Holding a sleeping baby: Really, is there anything more wonderful than holding a sleeping baby in your arms. Baby B is only falling asleep in my arms during our (3!) middle of the night feedings. Sometimes I just sit in the rocking chair and hold her for a few minutes before putting her back in her bed. Miss H will fall asleep in the car every once in awhile, and I will carry her sleeping to her bed. I love that!

#1 Being called "Mommy": Baby B is too young to say it yet, but whenever I come into her view she gives me a big smile and gets all excited. When I come home from being out, Miss H will run to me and say "Mommy's home, Mommy's home!" It is the best feeling to know how much these girls need and love me. And that makes all the temper tantrums, lack of sleep, and general frustrations, totally worth it.

To read more Top 3's, stop by Confessions, or write your own and link up! Happy Thursday, the weekend is almost here!!

I agree with all three you listed. Just being the one that your kids want, in any shape or form, feels great!

Yes, I LOVE to hold a sleeping baby too. So much so, that I'm known to pick me sleeping baby up in teh middle of the night, just to hold her!

Visiting & following you through Top 3 Thursday! I love your reasons and completely agree. There's nothing like holding a sleeping baby (or sleeping child for that matter!). It's one of the most peaceful moments you ever experience.

oh I LOVE holding a sleeping baby. My son isn't as much of a snuggler as my daughter was. I try to get in some snuggles while he sleeps :)

I love your list. Being called Mommy or Mama is among my favs too. My little bit will say, Mama, I love you! Yesterday my big girl went on a school bus for the first time. She said the driver was nice and pretty. Then she said, "not as pretty as you mom". That will be something I hope to remember for years to come. So so sweet!

Don't you secretly love the big squeezes you get when they have a boo boo and run to you and hold on for dear life??? It's amazing. And I do love being called Mommy, though there are some days if I hear it again I might jump out the damn window!!!

Saw your comment for Shell's post, love Shell by the way and swung by to find your great site here. I'll be back soon for sure!

Saw that you were looking for good recipes to make for you kids...that is what my blog is all about!!! I hope you check it out, it's me cooking with the kids because before I came up with that zany idea they didn't eat anything!!!!

And for the record, my kids watch too much TV too, but they learn from it!!! For real!!! My kids learned to count watching Thomas the Train and a whole boatload from Dora and Diego. I know mother of the year here but hey, we're all trying.

Hope you stop by! I'll be back here soon for sure.

Absolutely agree! Holding a sleeping baby just makes me melt. When my 8 month old stops moving and puts his head down on my chest to relax before bed, I want to just cry and hold him forever.

Thanks for playing our meme!

Totally love holding Maddie when she sleeps. The pink cheeks. The sweaty hair. The heavy breathing--be still my heart!
