Christmas in Florida doesn't seem like Christmas at all

You know that song from the modern version of "The Grinch." You know the one that goes, "Where are you Christmas? Why can't I find you? Why have you gone, aaaaa-waaaaaay?" (Think Faith Hill...)

Yeah, I thought you'd know that one. That is sort of how I am feeling right now.

What is wrong with me? I LOVE Christmas. I always have. But this year, I just can't seem to get into the Christmas spirit. I am excited to go to Christmas Mass and celebrate in the joy of Jesus's birthday, but at the same time, it doesn't feel like it is time yet.

The shopping is done, and wrapping to boot. Santa has been visited. Carols are on the radio in the car. Our house is decorated inside and out.

However, it is 60 degrees outside and my husband is at this very moment....mowing the lawn.

Say what?

That's right. It is December 21st here on the west coast of Florida and Mr. Rose is mowing the lawn. Last night we packed up the kiddos in the car, and drove around looking for Christmas lights. We had the air conditioning on in the car. (Insert disapproving sigh.)

I know there are many, many people in the Northeast cursing me right now as they dig themselves out from a blizzard. But Christmas in Florida just doesn't seem like Christmas at all.

Click here to see the video of "Where are You Christmas?" (Notice the SNOW?) It's one of my new favorites. Enjoy!

I totally understand. I grew up in Chicago and always had a snowy Christmas. Now I live in Texas and it's like 50 and sunny outside. Totally wierd. But I hate the cold so I'm happy if I never see snow again. My kids feel differently. My son Nino ran outside ecstatic the other day with his tongue out cuz it managed to snow for like 5 minutes. It was 5 minutes of heaven to him! Come visit me somtime at: organicmotherhoodwithcoolwhip.com
I'm following you now!

I am from Central Texas and had many Christmases in short sleeves and jeans. I feel your pain. I now live where it snows, but usually not until January and February.

Found you on MBC (and glad I did).

I've been in NC long enough to become acclimated to the warmer weather. But the past few winters have been "brrrrrrr" and I don't like it at all! But I know what you mean. I grew up in a region where a white Christmas was the norm and I do wax nostalgic for those days. God bless and a very merry Christmas to you and your family!

I love the snow for Christmas! This year we will be spending Christmas with my husband's family in Texas. It's going to be interesting - I'm used to "winter" weather over Christmas.
Dropping by from MBC and am now following!

We wish for a 60-degree Christmas every year, but Santa never seems to deliver. Count your blessings. DC is digging out from 16+ inches of snow...SITS sent me by, and I'm glad they did!

That's a Wrap

Hello Erin! I'm popping in from MBC & SITS!
I'm now following you...

I'm in North Carolina and sadly can't empathize with you. We just had some low temperatures in the 30's and our high is in the 50's. We had some snow but, it's all melted. Honestly, I'd trade places with you in a minute.

The sad part is I'm a New Yorker and I grew up in blizzards, below zero freezing temperatures and I can't deal with that sort of thing anymore. Florida is looking really good to me at the moment!
