Potty Training Boot Camp

Let me tell you something about my oldest child, Miss H. As the product of Mr. Rose and I, Miss H is quite possibly the most stubborn child ever born. She is nearly three years old and has only successfully used the potty once or twice, and only because I asked her to sit on it and not because she told me she needed to pee.

I know she is ready. She hides from me to make #2. I see her run behind the recliner or in another room, and when she returns, STINK-O!

I have tried positive reinforcement. I have tried bribery. The child is just not cooperating! She will sit there if I beg her and bribe her with candy, but nothing happens. Ugh. I am so tired of changing her diapers, which is a battle in itself.

I am down to my last resort.

Sorry honey, but you are getting big girl panties this weekend. You are going to learn that when you go to the bathroom in your pants, it is uncomfortable and yucky, and that the place to do that is in the potty.

Lord, give me the grace to get through this weekend!

Good luck!

I only had success with mine when we went the underpants route. Pull-ups were good for nothing but a more convenient diaper change.

HA HA HA!! I feel your pain! I really do. My Noah, my first preemie - he was the WORST to potty train. We ended up having a "potty jar" which was this big cookie jar with small treats in it. Cars (well can't use that for your girls, lol) ... Bubble Gum was his favorite at the time, so he would get a half a piece ... Pixie Sticks (ya know, the sugar ones) ... little containers of Playdoh ... just a bunch of small things ranging from toys to crayons to treats... and he got to pick one for potty and two for poo .. it worked for him, finally! I have this hilarious photo of him when I first put underwear on him that I'll be sharing next month around his birthday. Good luck with the big girl panties!!

God love you. That is quite a challenge. Don't know if you tried this but I created a sticker book for my oldest. Each page had a prize listed that was one of her favorite things (ice cream, movies, etc...) She would then earn 1 sticker for going pee and 2 for going poop. Once a page was filled up she earned that prize. It kinda sorta helped. She still hid on me, too, to do the #2. Good luck!
