Rethinking my blog, my mission

I have to say, I do believe I am suffering from blogger burnout. I used to be a regular poster, commenter, and tweeter. Now, I have barely even logged on to blogger in the last month.

Part of my problem is that I am having a hard time maintaining balance in my life. That was my New Year's Resolution, remember? Balance. Flexibility. I am achieving neither of those.

I think I got overwhelmed by the whole blogging game. The numbers. Followers. Stats. Analytics. That isn't why I started blogging. I started writing as an outlet for my thoughts and feelings. I needed a forum to connect with others and to have them connect with me.

I need to get back to basics. I am rethinking the purpose of this blog. Blogging became a bit of job for me. That is where the problem is. Blogging is not a job. It is not very likely to make me any significant amount of money. Blogging is a hobby. My job? My job is being a Mom. Raising the children that I brought into this world with my husband. That is and will always be my most important vocation. Cultivating Rosebuds.

So that is where I am going with this. I am going to try to get back to posting....but I am going to limit it to once a week (probably Thursdays). Those of you who used to follow me? I hope you are still there and will join me once a week. I am going to start trying to read and comment on blogs again as well. I just haven't figured out where that will fit yet.

Thanks for sticking with me. I have missed you all!

Erin

I've seen this happening a lot all over blog land. I am starting to feel myself getting caught up in the numbers and stats that I'm afraid I will end up burnt out as well. I suppose I should take all of this as a hint! LOL

I love reading your blog, and I will stick around! Everyone should understand that no matter what, family comes first.

It is so good of you to recognize this. Blogging should never be done because of pressure. It is too bad that so much of blogging has become competitive!
No worries though, all your loyal readers will stay with you!
Have a lovely weekend,
Jody

You got to do what you got to do! I had the same issue too. In fact I just jumped back into blogging after taking over a month off (and only posting once a week for a month before that). I wrote about it when I decided to start blogging again. You can read it here

I think it's good to step away for a while... I know it was for me! So far my posts have been MUCH better than they were before and it no longer feels like a "job". Hopefully the same will happen to you! I hope you find balance!!

I wondered where you had been! I like the new perspective. You don't have to write a minimum for me. I will stop by and check on you from time to time because I am interested in how you and the rosebuds are getting along. Looks like you are doing very well! I look forward to your future posts at any rate you so choose.

I think everyone goes through this a little bit. You have to make it what is right for you. Sounds like you're figuring it out. Regardless, I'm sticking around!

This is something I've been mulling over recently as well, and I don't think it's an uncommon dilemma. Do what works for you. We'll be here whenever you decide to post... or in my case, whenever I finally open up my blog reader. ;)
