Moving memos

For the last three weeks, our lives have been completely upended. We packed suitcases with clothes and toys and a million other necessities. We ate out practically every meal. We watched as all of our earthly belongings got packed in boxes and loaded onto a big truck. We said goodbye.

And then we drove away. And we drove and we drove and then we drove some more. More than a thousand miles north from tropical south Florida, we are finally in Maryland. Actually, we got here 12 days ago now. That is when the real work began. We unpacked and organized and unpacked and organized. We drove around and explored our new town.

The new house
There are definitely some adjustments that have been made already like getting used to having two levels instead of one. One adjustment that I am happy to make is to the climate. When we left Florida, temperatures were consistently in the 90's with insane humidity. Last week, we had highs in the 70's here and I actually wore long pants two days in a row. We opened all the windows to enjoy the cool breeze that blew through. I know I will probably be hating life in January, but right now these temperatures are a welcome change.

There is also a charm to this town that we didn't have in Florida. As I drive around I get a feeling that I haven't had in over seven years when we left Colorado. A feeling that I could live here forever. A feeling that I could become immersed in this town and have it become a part of who I am.

So that is how the last three weeks have been going for us. We are settling into our new home and our new town. After a quick family vacation to the beach, Mr. Rose will go back to work and the Rosebuds and I will settle into our new normal. I think it's going to be great.

And your temps? I'm jealous. As in really, really jealous...
