So friends, the joke is on me. What joke you ask? Well, my April Fool's joke. Huh? Still confused? Here's what happened. On April Fool's Day several people on Twitter were discussing what jokes and pranks they were going to play. I chimed in that I was going to fake a positive pregnancy test for my husband.
A couple of people (including bellebeandog) wondered how I could do that. It was simple; a friend of mine had just found out that she was pregnant so all I had to do was have her pee on a stick for me. In the end, I decided that joke wouldn't really be funny because my husband would have been sad when I told him it was fake.
The next morning Mr. Rose and I were working around the house trying to clean up for our then impending move. I was working in the bathroom and found one last pregnancy test that I still had left over from some point.
Then, I started counting. Counting the days since my last period. Hmmm, that's strange. Seems like it should be happening anytime now. Then I got out my calendar. Yup, it definitely should be coming anytime now. And then I had an epiphany. I'll just take this last test to get rid of it.
And that my friends is how I found out that I am pregnant. Yes indeed, the joke is on me! It was a happy surprise nonetheless. When I told Mr. Rose, he just looked incredulously at me and said, "Is this an April Fool's joke?" And then we both laughed.
This will be our third baby and we are absolutely thrilled. We always wanted to have a third, but the timing just surprised us a bit. My pregnancy so far has been pretty uneventful, except for the whole buying a house and moving 1,000 miles away part.
At this point I am almost 18 weeks and due around December 9. I have found a wonderful midwife and am praying to stay healthy and low risk for the remainder of my pregnancy so that I can finally have a full term baby!
As a sidenote, I know that my posting frequency has been woefully inadaquate. I miss connecting with all of you on a more regular basis, but life is just crazy right now. I am going to try to post once a week for a while, and if or when the spirit moves me. I know you all understand.
