Parting is such sweet sorrow

Today I am linking up with another one of my best blogging buddies, Shell, from Things I Can't Say. Have you met Shell? She is the bestest! On Wednesdays, Shell likes to pour her heart out. Sometimes it is serious, sometimes it is funny, everytime it is cathartic and cleansing.

For those of you who don't know, the Rosebuds and I have been staying with my parents for the last almost four months. Mr. Rose has been on an extended overseas travel assignment and I did not think I could handle these two by myself.

Boy, was I ever right. Between the stress of having my husband gone, dealing with Miss H's terrible two's/throttle 'em threes, and Baby B's feeding and sleeping issues, I would just about be in a mental institution right now had I not come.

My parents are the absolute best. There have been breakdowns (on my part) for which they offered a steady hand to help me get through. My Mom has willingly done baby duty one night a week so that I can get some rest. They have babysat for free while I got my hair done, saw a movie, or just went to church by myself.

But alas, all good things must come to an end. Right now I am preparing us to go home at the end of April. A mere two weeks from today, we will pack up and caravan home. It is so bittersweet for me because I have loved being back in my hometown with my parents, brother, and sister, but I am SO ready for Mr. Rose to be home and for our family to be back together again.

There are no words for how grateful I am to my parents for everything they have done for me. I know that they are going to be very sad to see their girls go, and I am sad for that as well. Like I said, bittersweet.

I hope they know how much I appreciate them and how much I have loved being here. I guess I'll have to tell them.

What a great experience for all of you! It will be a time that you will always have as a wonderful memory of being a family together!

How sad to have to leave them...but how exciting that your husband will be back!

Thanks for linking up!

I would totally move in with my parents if Jdaddy had to leave!! I can understand that as excited you are for Mr. Rose to get home and to be a family again, it will be hard to leave the ones that have supported you the last 4 months. Your post is so sweet!

I think it's important to have family or really close friends to fall back on.

Something tells me, your parents are ready to have a break, but they are going to miss those kids (and you) like crazy. The comment I often get after the grandparents get use to having us around, "It's too quiet now."

That is awesome that you have been able to have that with them! And how fun for your kids to spend so much time with their grandparents :D

It sounds like you have a wonderful bond with your parents...but I am sure you are excited to get back to you own home and get settled again.

It's wonderful that they have been such a help to you! My parents were like that when my husband was not really living at home before our big move.

I LOVE this post, Erin. Your family sounds amazing--and I know how bittersweet it is to leave your hometown {{hugs}}.

Yay for Mr. Rose coming home!! I can imagine how happy and excited y'all are!

Its heartwarming to hear your parents have been such a huge support to you and your family.

I haven't ever had that. Maybe its because of the circumstances of my children's special needs and my extended families inability to deal with their complexities or perhaps they just don't want to.

But, when I hear stories like this it makes me happy to know there ARE families that rally around their loved ones when they are most needed.

I so sympathize with you. I LOVE being back in my hometown staying with my parents. It's so fun to be back and reconnecting with everyone. But, you are right, it will be so nice to be with your husband again. Good luck! :)

It sounds like you have a great support system! The adjustment back home might be difficult but having your hubby back will be nice and it is always nice to sleep in your own bed. :-)
